Osmani International Airport

History & Background

Osmani International Airport was originally built during British rule as an airfield and later developed for civil aviation. It is named after General M. A. G. Osmani, commander-in-chief of Bangladesh forces during the Liberation War. The airport is especially important for Sylhet's large expatriate community.
