Jashore Airport was built as a Royal Air Force base in 1940 during the Second World War. Pakistan International Airlines began civil flights from Jashore in 1951. After the Liberation War, civil air services resumed under Bangladesh, and the airport remains an important domestic gateway for the southwest.
