Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur is a coastal-riverine district of Chattogram Division known for agriculture, Meghna-side settlements, and dense rural-urban linkages. It covers 1,440.39 km² and had a population of 1,937,948 in the 2022 census. Lakshmipur town is the district headquarters and a local trade center.

Lakshmipur grew from parts of greater Noakhali and became a district on 15 February 1984. Its history is shaped by river shifts, agriculture, local trade, and the deltaic life of the Meghna-facing southeast.

Location: Southeastern Bangladesh near the lower Meghna. Char lands, riverbanks, and alluvial plains define the district.
