Construction of Mobarakganj Sugar Mills began in 1965 and was completed by 1968, with sugar production beginning around the 1967-68 period. After Bangladesh became independent, the mill was taken into the state-owned industrial system in 1972. The facility is notable not just for sugar but also for associated farm land, housing, offices, and by-product operations.
