History & Background
Bisnakandi sits at the point where streams cascading down from India's Meghalaya plateau, including a visible waterfall on the Indian side, converge into the Bangladesh lowlands near Gowainghat. Like nearby Jaflong, it developed as a stone- and sand-quarrying site worked by local communities, but its dramatic setting, with the Khasi Hills rising directly behind a shallow, boulder-strewn riverbed, made it one of Sylhet's most photographed natural attractions once improved rural roads made the area accessible to tourists in the 2010s.
