History & Background

Historically the terminus of an 83-year-old rail-ferry route to Bahadurabad Ghat (Jamalpur) that shut down after the Bangabandhu Bridge opened in 1998; the Balashi–Bahadurabad alignment is now one of two routes under government study for a proposed second Jamuna bridge/tunnel.
