History & Background
Chimbuk sits along the winding mountain road between Bandarban town and Ruma, rising to roughly 2,600 feet, and has long served as a natural gateway into the deeper hill tracts inhabited by the Mro (Murong) indigenous community. Mro villages on the surrounding slopes have retained distinct traditions, dress, and the practice of ear-stretching among older generations. Before Sajek and Nilgiri grew popular, Chimbuk was the classic day-trip viewpoint for visitors to Bandarban, and it remains an essential stop on the way to Nilgiri.
