History & Background
The first palace at Natore Rajbari was built by Raja Ramjivan Moitra, founder of the Rajshahi Raj family. His daughter-in-law, the celebrated Rani Bhabani, greatly expanded both the zamindari estate and the palace complex after her husband's death, turning it into one of the largest estates in Bengal. Surrounded by ponds and centuries-old trees, the complex originally comprised seven separate palaces, of which four remain largely intact today. The adjoining Kali and Shiva temples also bear witness to the religious traditions of the Raj family.
