Shopnopuri Artificial Amusement Park

Rangpur 10 views

History & Background

Inaugurated on 2 February 1989 by its founder and managing director Md. Delwar Hossain as a private initiative, Shopnopuri began on just 38 acres of land in Khalishpur mouza, Aftabganj, in Dinajpur's Nawabganj upazila. Over the following decades it grew into one of the largest amusement parks in Bangladesh, now spanning roughly 400 acres of artificial meadows, hills, and lakes. Its grounds combine a children's play area, a mini zoo of sculpted animals, an art gallery, and a large brick-and-cement relief map of Bangladesh covering some 2,500 square feet, alongside bungalows for overnight stays — making it as much a themed sculpture park as a ride-based amusement park.

Highlights

  • Roughly 400 acres of artificial lakes, hills, and gardens
  • Sculpted mini zoo with flamingo, dinosaur, and Pegasus figures
  • Rongdhonu Art Gallery and the Moha Maya Indrojal magic show
  • 2,500-sq-ft brick-and-cement relief map of Bangladesh
