The historic river of Dhaka, home to the city's main inland river port, Sadarghat.
The Buriganga has been Dhaka's river since the Mughal era, when the city grew along its banks as a river port. Today Sadarghat remains the launching point for launches to the southern districts, though the river itself suffers from severe industrial pollution.
A short Sadarghat boat ride at sunset, past the old city waterfront and Ahsan Manzil, is a classic Old Dhaka experience.
